7-Zip

7-Zip is a free file archive for Windows. It can compress files in three formats: 7z, tar and zip. The main format is 7z which gives high compression ratio than any other format even the rar format. 7-Zip can un-package 7z, zip, gzip, bzip2, tar, arj, cab, chm, cpio, deb, dmg, hfs, iso, lzh, lzma, msi, nsis, rar, rpm, udf, wim, xar and z. The file formats supported by the program can be decompressed by any other file archive and it can decompress almost all the compressed file formats so don’t be worry to use 7-Zip. All your compressed files can be decompressed including the rar files. It is integrated with the Windows shell so you can compress or decompress files with right click options. It can make sfx (self-extracting files), passwords for compressed files and supports 74 languages.

Tip: For the highest compression ratio use 7z format with LZMA method.
